Tokyo

An asian country with mixed historical and modern culture and Japan is definitely one of them. Japan’s capital city is Tokyo where you can discover both experience all at once. Previously been to Tokyo, I have enjoyed the traditional museums and castles as well as the vibrant night life.

Recently, I have been watching different food videos from Tasty and came across gyoza. My friend form Japan and I decided to make gyoza since it looks fun and tasty. Gyoza is a snack for Japanese and sometimes they order as a side. They are usually pan freshly made and pan fried. Making gyoza was great and it was really fun to make it however it took us a lot longer than we expected. it was difficult to make the dumplings to look perfect. we took around 3-4 hours to complete the whole process.

I have also discovered there are more and more Japanese restaurant opening in Toronto. There are a lot of different Japanese cuisine such as izakaya, don, sushi, ramen and dessert. My friend and I decided to try ramen since it is one of the most popular cuisine in Tokyo. Ramen was originated from China and it was then brought to Japan. When I was in Tokyo, there are a lot of ramen restaurant and you can see at least 1 ramen restaurant on every other street. Other than ramen is in a shop, I have also had a chance to try ramen from a stall cart as well. Most of the ramen in a Shop and my friend and I decided to go to a Michelin Star ramen place. This restaurant was opened recently in downtown Toronto. The ramen I tried was the Signature Clam Broth Ramen. The soup was good and it wasn’t too oily as well.

After ramen, we also went for dessert. My friend told me there are a lot of desserts in Tokyo such as Dafuku, ice cream toast and fluffy cheesecake. We went to a cafe called Little Pebble which they sell a lot of different Japanese desserts. This time I had the chance to try Matcha Chiffon Cake. I picked matcha since matcha is one of Japanese signature. The cake is full of matcha flavour but it was a bit too sweet for me.
